there was a blog. Now how do you know what to write in a blog that other people might be interested in? Well, you don’t really. You can just type stuff up and hope that someone out there enjoys what you have written. Okay then, where do you start? At the begining of course!
How it all began… Well, I blame Mimi. I say blame… really it aught to be thank! Allow me to explain.
My friend Mimi is very natually talented, and she used to make her own jewellery, I bought a few bits from her shop on Esty and loved them. Then one day I decided to treat myself to some more but, horror of horrors – the shop was no longer there! Mimi had given up the jewellery making and had a new love – knitting!
I had no real interest I’m sorry to say. The pieces she was making were beautiful for sure, and she sent me a couple of really gorgous items, but I wanted her awsome jewelly dammit!
So, what was a girl to do? That’s right, I bought a jewellery making kit from eBay!
I loved it, and had soon spent a small fortune on bits and bobs and was beading like something possessed! I even went to my first bead fair – it was great!
BUT I had now been bitten with the crafting bug, it was only a matter of time before I declared to my sister (while in the Jacuzzi fact fans) that I wanted to learn to knit.
When I told Mimi of this she recommened a book to me, Stitch and Bitch by Debbie Stoller. This duely ordered, I was informed by the Mimster that there was a parcel in the post for me, a sort of starter pack if you will. I actually paced in the living room waiting for the post man to arrive!
This is what he bought;
I know you want to see what was inside (I certainly did, I could hardly contain myself!);
I was jumping up and down like a little kid!
I read through the Debbie Stoller book and followed her instructions – I could knit a whole square! Then a square with a heart in it! Then a scarf! There was no stopping me now!
Anyway, this is how I staring getting interested in so many crafty things. I hope to blog about them at various times, probably more knitting related just at the moment, but other things as the mood takes me.
If you too would like to be inspired by Mimi, you can check out her blog eskimimiknits. Funny and intersting all in one place.
Thank you Meems.
