Your knitting and crochet time 2KCBWDAY7

Write about your typical crafting time. When it is that you are likely to craft – alone or in more social environments, when watching TV or whilst taking bus journeys. What items do you like to surround yourself with whilst you twirl your hook like a majorette’s baton or work those needles like a skilled set of samurai swords. Do you always have snacks to hand, or are you a strictly ‘no crumbs near my yarn!’ kind of knitter.

I usually do things like knitting and crochet sat on the sofa while watching something on the TV. Now,  I must admit, this does have it’s pro’s and con’s. It is more sociable than disappearing into another room, so I can sit and do it while I chat or whatever. Unfortunatly, if  I’m holding a conversation I can’t concentrate too much on a pattern, so I need to be making something reasonably simple.

I don’t like to eat while I am working, I would be devastated if I got something dirty before I had even finished it – and I would… I do tend to have a drink to hand though, thirsty work this needle twirling stuff!

Next to the sofa I have a box.  It has grown in size since I first learnt to knit. Just a little.  It is one of the large, clear 70L storage boxes that doubles as a handy table for me. Now when I first thought about writing this blog post, I took a look at my working area, it was somewhat cluttered to say the least. Bits and bobs of tools that I had left on there (yarn needle, scissors, stitch markers, etc…) and a UFO.  Next to this is my bag (my starter storage space) which was full to the top… Not good. So, this post has made me decide to clean up my act. I’m to start no new projects until I have finished one of my other ones.

So far these consist of;

  1. A Pacman Wristband – needs photgraphing and sewing up (and photographing again).
  2. A Panda Hat – needs sewing up.
  3. A scarf – on the last skien, just needs finishing.
  4. Socks – think this might have to be a WiP (work in progress), I’m not enjoying knitting them on DPNs so might have to try the magic circle method instead.

There, I don’t think that’s too bad. I’ve already tidied up the other bits and bobs in case you were wondering. 😉

There will be an exception to this and that is Sam’s blanket, purely because it is going to be done over a period of time, and when I tried to buy more yarn on Thursday they had ran out of one of the colours, so it’s a bit enforced really.

    I LOVE your granny square pics. I’m glad that you have started to amass multiple WIPs. I feel among peers.
